All are invited to Sunday evening celebration
For 100 years, Greene County Extension & Outreach has connected the needs of our community with Iowa State University research and resources to solve today’s problems and prepare for the future. For Greene County Extension the connection is more than professional – it’s personal. The community is invited to celebrate 100 years of service and see that personal connection through history, now, and into the future.
Extension Council and staff are hosting a centennial celebration on Sunday evening, Nov. 13, from 5-7 pm at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds.
Social hour begins at 5, including the opportunity to view historic exhibits and ISU Extension & Outreach’s Land Grant Legacy project. Welcome is at 5:30 with remarks by Robert Dodds, ISU Extension & Outreach assistant vice president for county services.
Dinner will begin at 5:45 and is a freewill offering with all proceeds going to the Greene County 4-H Foundation. Menu includes beef, pork and lamb provided by the Greene County Producer’s groups with sides prepared by Ram Restaurant.
At 6:30 pm, guests will travel through “Greene County Extension: The First 100 Years”, and Dr. Steve Karber will share his lifelong experiences in 4-H and Extension. No reservations are needed for the event.
“We are excited to share our story with the community, and to hear how Extension has impacted their lives throughout our history. We hope our constituents can join us in this Centennial Celebration,” said Lori Mannel, Greene County Extension’s county director. “We are here to provide support and programming for your health, family, livelihood, community, and environment and are proud to move forward with all our citizens into the next century.”
